Robert H. Mylott, M.A. is a retired Police Officer from the Suffolk County Police Department in New York State, and has been a polygraph examiner since 1981. Prior to working for the Suffolk County Police Department he was employed as a Police Officer by the Delray Beach Police Department in the State of Florida, and as a Correction Officer for The New York City Department of Corrections. After graduating from the New York School of Lie Detection he worked on a part-time basis with Kennedy and Brinker, Inc. in Manhattan, N.Y., and Executive Security, Inc. in Babylon, N.Y. While employed by these firms he conducted pre-employment, periodic, and specific criminal polygraph exams. From September, 1989 to June, 1990 Robert was assigned on a temporary basis to the Chief of Detectives Office within the Suffolk County Police Department to administer pre-employment, and specific issue polygraph examinations to candidates being evaluated for the position of police officer.
In June 2011 Mr. Mylott was recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as a Qualified Polygraph Expert. He has administered over 5,000 polygraph examinations. These exams concerned the following issues: pre-employment (private industry and Law Enforcement), larceny, burglary, financial fraud, medical malpractice, physical assault, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, forcible rape, Immigration issues, and homicide. Mr. Mylott is a full member of the American Polygraph Association, The American Association of Police Polygraphist, and a certified full member of the National Association of Polygraph Specialist in Sex Offender Testing and Monitoring. He holds Advanced Certificates of Training from the American Polygraph Association, and American Association of Police Polygraphists. Mr. Mylott has attended numerous advanced training seminars accredited by the American Polygraph Association, the American Association of Police Polygraphists, and the American Psychological Association in the detection of deception and sex offender typology and treatment.
In August 1995 Mr. Mylott founded Applied Science Polygraph, Inc. which specializes in Sexual Offender, and Criminal Issue polygraph examinations for Federal, State, and County Parole and Probation Departments. In 1996 he helped institute a pilot sexual offender polygraph program with The Connection, Inc. Special Services, Center for Treatment of Problem Sexual Behavior in Middletown, Connecticut for convicted sex offenders under a Federal CSOM grant. He has participated in polygraph research for the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute, lectured therapist, court personnel, and Probation and Parole Departments on the use of the polygraph in the supervision and treatment of sex offenders on parole and/or probation.
Mr. Mylott possess a M..A. Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, New York, B.S. Degree in Behavioral Science from New York Institute of Technology, C. Islip, New York, and an A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Palm Beach Community College, Lake Worth, Florida
